RED LIGHT THERAPY

Red and Near-infrared light therapy

What if there was a pill that was proven to have powerful health benefits, would you want it?

Crazy thing is, there is such a thing, but it’s NOT a pill…

It’s Red and Near-infrared light therapy!

Red and Near-Infrared (NIR) therapy are one of the biggest break-through discoveries in health in the last half century.  Scientists have quickly accumulated thousands of studies on the power that Red and NIR light has on human health and wellness, for the last several decades.

And yet, most people have NEVER heard of it.

Red and Near-infrared light are part of the electromagnetic spectrum, and more specifically, part of the spectrum of light emitted by the sun (and fire light).  These wavelengths of light are “bioactive” in humans.

The 5 “BIOACTIVE” types of light: Why humans need sunlight to be healthy

Most of us are unaware of the fact that many different types of light are “bioactive” in humans (which means they affect the functioning of human cells), and that our health is largely influenced by the dosage of these different types of light that we get each day (or don’t get enough of, in some cases).

These 5 types of bioactive light in humans:

  1. Blue Light - sets the circadian rhythm in our brain, which in turn regulates numerous different neurotransmitters and hormones.
  2. UV Light - allows us to synthesize vitamin D from the sun
  3. Far-infrared - acts to heat up our cells (this is the part of the sun’s spectrum that you feel as heat) which stimulates changes in cell function, as well as circulation changes
  4. Red Light - acts on the mitochondria in our cells to stimulate increased cellular energy (ATP) production, among other mechanisms discussed herein
  5. Near-infrared (NIR) - acts on the same pathways as red light but has the ability to penetrate the skins deeper layers - works particularly in the mitochondria in our cells to stimulate increased cellular energy (ATP) among the other benefits discussed

WHY IS RED AND NIR LIGHT THERAPY SO BENEFICIAL ?

Just as human cells need nutrients from food, light is also a necessary nutrient for our cells to function well. Certain types of light can power up our cells, how?  Every cell in the body contains something called mitochondria. When we eat food those micronutrients are then turned into energy by the mitochondria.  And just like plants turn sunlight into food to fuel the plants growth, our mitochondria can also use the red spectrum light to also create energy for us!
I don’t want to get too bogged down in the details of the dozens of different signaling pathways at the cellular level. Instead, I want to keep things simple and understandable.

When our cells are functioning poorly...which most human’s cells are today because we live a life full of stressors, like job stress, toxic stress like plastics and pesticides such as glyphosates, heavy metal in our food and water supply, too much artificial light at night, and air pollution (among others), these toxins impact our cells’ ability to produce energy.

Now I’m not just talking about having a bunch of “energy” to get you through your day without feeling tired.  I’m talking about cellular energy that pumps your heart and expands your lungs when you take a breath.  Energy to think and to digest food 3 or more times a day. Energy your muscles need to contract and release so you can walk and talk!  There’s far more to cellular energy than feeling energetic throughout your day.

In short, the mitochondria are the batteries that fuel all the processes of our organs; thus, things which enhance the mitochondria translate into more cellular energy inside the cells, which allows the cell or organ (e.g. brain, heart, lungs, liver, skin, muscle, etc.) to work optimally.

However, since we don’t get enough red light from the sun anymore, we are paying the price in the very core of our cells themselves.  Statistics show that the average American spends 93% of their time in a built environment (e.g. home, office or car)!

This has dire consequences for our health because we need red and near-infrared light therapy to generate energy efficiently in our cells.

This powerful spectrum of light can also;
  • affect our hormones and neurotransmitters
  • balance our mood and cognition
  • enhance physical performance and muscle recovery
  • speed healing from injury
  • speed up fat loss
  • support recovery from stress
  • improve sleep
  • increase alertness
  • combat aging and make your skin healthier
  • reduce wrinkles
  • help get rid of cellulite
  • stimulate hair growth

                                                                        Have I convinced you yet!?

Where do we get this red and near- infrared spectrum of light from?  The sun is one way, the peak hours are from 1pm to 3pm.  But that’s not convenient for some of us, because we are at work during these peak hours.  And then there are others who tend to be more sensitive to the sun, so basking in the sun might not work for everyone across the board.

I’ve personally seen that it helps me sleep better at night and has helped with my acne, no more zits even around Aunt Flo time. I’ve also noticed that my hair is growing faster and around my hair line what I thought I was losing started to grow back again! I’m sure there’s other benefits I haven’t seen yet but I’ll keep you updated!

I love the RLT! ❤️❤️❤️ It’s helped me so much with the nerve pain I experienced after my strokes. It would hurt to walk and to use my hands but as soon as I started I felt a difference. Now my hands and feet don’t hurt, my back feels better, my shoulder where I had a torn ligament doesn’t hurt even after a long day, I have more energy and my hair is growing faster! It’s really helped a lot and because I can’t exercise because of my strokes it’s helped me lose some weight around my midsection.
